When loading shelf-ready trays of bottles, it is important to ensure all the labels are facing forward when the bottles are loaded into the trays. This high speed system spins the bottles while looking for the break in the label then orients each bottle to be facing forward. The trays are pre-formed and conveyed into the cell where an ABB IRB 1300 robot with a custom gripper featuring 3D printed soft cups picks and load the bottles, 3 at a time.
Two case packers for 3 types of vacuumed formed muffin packs at up to 50 packs per minute. The cases are then closed, taped and labelled, and then fed to one of 2 palletisers. Finished pallets are feed through a stretch wrapper where an SSCC label is applied and then conveyed to a out feed buffer awaiting pickup by an operator.

We have a range of interesting projects all coming to completion in our factory. COVID makes it difficult to invite visitors so we made this virtual tour to show you some of the cool projects on our floor. The projects include an automated tray handling system, a complete end of line packing system including case packers and a central palletiser, a donut dough sorting machine, a small footprint case packer, our Zero Footprint (ZFP) Palletiser, and a bin picking system with PickIt Software and Zivid camera.
This In Process Check system provides an extremely accurate ( 0.01mg) measurement of the powder in a blister pack. Using a Mettler Toledo weight scale the blister is weighed before and after each pocket is evacuated of powder to provide a high accuracy process check of the fill quantity. Using an ABB IRB 120 robot the blisters are processed from trays in the required order with all data logged.
This central palletiser was installed in 2009 (confirm!) but is still going strong. All palletisers are customised to the number of lines and rates required; this line is optimised for a large number of lines (up to 36) but a relatively low case rate on each line, which means robots on tracks is the perfect solution. The line features 3 pallet types with the robot picking the required pallet from the stack and loading it in place using the special gripper adaptor. Finished pallets are taken out on rail shuttles to the hood wrapper and on to the warehouse.

Receiving over 9,000 cartons per hour from 27 packing lines, with 16 robots and 32 pallet stations the system outputs over 100 wrapped pallets per hour.
The system is serviced by AGV delivering stacks of empty pallets and taking the finished pallets away.
Featuring ABB 4600 robots the system uses custom rail shuttles to transfer the pallets from pallet preparation to each station then on to the stretch wrapper..
This palletiser is capable of palletising to a height of almost 3m. It also includes an over arm stretch wrapper. Read more
