When loading shelf-ready trays of bottles, it is important to ensure all the labels are facing forward when the bottles are loaded into the trays. This high speed system spins the bottles while looking for the break in the label then orients each bottle to be facing forward. The trays are pre-formed and conveyed into the cell where an ABB IRB 1300 robot with a custom gripper featuring 3D printed soft cups picks and load the bottles, 3 at a time.
This In Process Check system provides an extremely accurate ( 0.01mg) measurement of the powder in a blister pack. Using a Mettler Toledo weight scale the blister is weighed before and after each pocket is evacuated of powder to provide a high accuracy process check of the fill quantity. Using an ABB IRB 120 robot the blisters are processed from trays in the required order with all data logged.
Reorientating and double stacking product in preparation for flow wrap packaging.
Product infeed rate is 90 parts per minute. The machine uses a Fanuc M-1iA D 6-axis Delta Robot to pick, place and reorientate the part.

ADDE design and built this central palletiser for the AstraZeneca facility in North Ryde, Sydney. Read more
ADDE designed and built a central palletiser for AstraZeneca in Sydney that uses autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) for all pallet movements.
A mezzanine was installed to allow the UR10 robots upstairs to palletise while the pallets are finished downstairs.
The system palletises onto cardboard Euro Pallets that are moved on customised tables. It uses Swisslog CarryPick vehicles which lift the tables with their integrated lifting system.
The vehicles navigate using markers on the floor around a fixed path. The system is not ‘people safe’, mainly because of the large industrial robots downstairs, so these marker following vehicle are fit for purpose in this application.
The system has 2 vehicles on the mezzanine and 3 downstairs in the pallet finishing operations all under the control of the master fleet management system.
This central palletiser at AstraZeneca in Sydney uses 7 Universal Robot UR10 robots to palletise products from 12 production lines onto cardboard euro pallets. Read more
An special purpose machine using a vision system for the inspection of vials
The customer required an automated quality inspection process to check that the vial plastic covering is wrapped around the bottom and top to precise specifications.
The system uses 4 separate cameras with UV illumination with dedicated software to get a 360 degree view of the key areas as well as intelligent software to decide if the vial is within specification in order to accept or reject it.
A series of star wheels with built-in suction cups automatically move the vial to its required location:
